Is it possible to have the effects going while your playing/recording the guitar, or do you have to record the guitar and then add the effects afterwards.

You add after......
edit waveform....

You can preview prior to applying or you can listen prior to mixdown....but it's after tracking....

You'll need a peripheral effects device to do what you want to do....that is if it's gain/sustain/verb kind of thing you are looking for...I have had pretty good luck with a POD....still working on it though...
Take it easy,
Joe

Remember CEP is primairly a SAMPLE EDITOR, not a mixing console like Nuendo/pro-tools etc.

This means FX have to be added AFTER recording.
(no fx on record monitor)

correction...I just tried it.....you can add while tracking but, I could not hear the effect until after I had stopped tracking and was in playback mode.......

hmmmmmm.......

Thanks. So is there any software that you cay get that will apply affects to my guitar while im playing? Or can this only be done externally?

I dunno....
My soundcard does have extremely limited effects on it but, I have never used them....that's a hardware thing anyways...

I use a POD for real time guitar effects........

maybe someone else will have some insight to software effects..

Joe

I don't know, but have you tried something like Nuendo / Cakewalk / Sonor etc. yet?
These are the real mixing/tracking babies, while CEP has the edit power.

haven't tried it (yet), but it might work?!?
(I use my DAW while recording, which can fx to the input monitor)

Why don't you get some simple guitar effects to go through before you go into the recorder?

If you put a real-time effect on a track before recording, you can't hear it while tracking?

I guess I've never tried it...

Yes you can hear it....
You can hear any peripheral..
it's the software effects within CEP that you can't hear...like lo-fi...

Well.....that's what I meant. I've I wanted a flanger on my guitar solo, and placed the Cool Edit flanger in my effect rack prior to recording, I couldn't here it as I was tracking?

( i would just try it, but I'm away at school right now)
