Both of the laptops i am looking at both have tha same specs for both apart from the cpu....

Which do you think is the best way to go?

I will also be using a M-Audio Ozonic firewire bus powered keyboard/audio recorded. So it will be drawing some power from it. Most of the stuff i will be doing will be running Cubase Sx, reason as a slave and running a fair few Vst instruments and FX.

If anyone has any documentation on the benchmarks for these two in the way of performance i would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to look at the specs on the lappys you can find them at www.tpg.com.au

PS I'm also selling my desktop with a AMD 3200+ 1 GB ram, 200Gb hdd 17" monitor, Raedeon 9600 and Asus A7N8X-X Deluxe. Included with a M-audio Delta 1010-lt and a hell of alot of music software and vst fx and instruments.

I live in Australia so out side of Oz is not really on the cards...

Make an offer and thanks for your help.....

you do know that Centrino isn't a processor type, right?
I'd definitely go with the 64. You'll get much better results than the Pentium.

dictionary.com says that 'type' is "A person or thing having the features of a group or class."

I would catogorize Centrino as a type as it has different features than other processors- intergrated wireless LAN and the very flexible processing abilities.

I use Centrino and its all right... but you'd be better off with 64.

The AMD is much better for what you are looking at. The 64 is faster, and better suited.

the Centrino is the technology...in order for a computer to be Centrino it must have a Pentium M microprocessor chip along with some other specifications

First off: Wireless LAN cannot be intergrated into a proccessor.
Second: The AMD 64 will not be taken advantage of with the current operating systems (Windows for 64bit is currently in beta) but they are cool!

You will need to know where the usb placement on the laptop is and how many of them are there. since you need the usb key (dongle) to run cubase you will eat up that usb port and it many not fit very well.

"A person or thing having the features of a group or class." = different technology

And I did just miswrote my statement about WLAN.. sry about that. I'm not as dumb as you might think about these things... just that English isn't my first language...
