Hi,

Does anyone know of a specific microphone stand on the market that can be physically mounted to the ceiling, because im placing a mic in a small room (booth) and would be much easier to have it hanging from the ceiling?

Thanks

well you could always just rig it up with some type of pulley system. However, if your looking for overheads of sometype Audio Techinca makes some hanging mics.

why limit yourself, Crown, AT ,sennheiser, shure all make overhead hanging mics. you can however mount anything you like to the cieling just as you would to a desk or podium. What exactly are you doing, (vocals I am assuming) Just get a broadcast mic stand and mount it on thecieling then attach whatever mic you like

You may be looking for something like this. You can find cheaper ones on e-bay, but they are a little flimsy. The OC Whites are supposed to be pretty solid.

I believe the bottom of solid base mic stands use standard pipe thread, but I don't have one here in this state to measure. If so, you could probably use a T made of steel pipe and fasten it to the ceiling with metal strap material and screws pretty easily. That would probably be more solid than any clamp-on mic stand.

This is where I mention good, trusty, ol' duct tape! Or gaffers tape!

thanks

Thanks everyone for your help, yea im going to drill that mount into the ceiling, just hope it doesnt come down on me lol

As long as you hit the wooden rafter (stud) with a nice long deck or drywall screw then it won't be coming down. EZ has the best and probably most versatile method. It's what I'd do if I did ceiling mounted mic stands.
