Firstly, I'm not sure which thread this question belongs, it seems this one is closest.

Does anybody here do cd duplication? I was wondering what kind of equipment was needed for this and how much it costs. Note however, I'm talking about CD duplication and not CDR duplication.

"Real" CD's are manufactured in what is commonly called a "replication" plant. They are a piece of metal that is stamped from a stamper made from a glass master, then enclosed in the clear plastic in a "clean room".I don't know what the tooling for such an operation would cost offhand, but I bet it would not be cheap to get set up.

"Duplication" is done in cdr runs, which is one of the things I do here at my place.I have a serious cdr duplicator,a Media Form 4600,which listed for about $7600.00 when it was new.It will do 7 discs at a time at 4x.There are faster machines out now,but this one I have has been bulletproof so far and I got a steal on it used

Have a great day!
