Does anybody know where I can get some cd cover templates on the internet. I am working in photoshop so I guess I am looking for psd files.

I was looking as discmakers templates, but they were kind of wierd. I will go try them again I suppose.

www.moderncd.com send me some decent CD Templates (.psd files for Photoshop) when I requested a quote. Just be sure to tell them you're using photoshop and ask for templates. Also don't forget that when designing anything that will eventually have two sides (front and back) to use a bleed....

Bleed

Ah, so that's what the 'bleed' thing is for? I did wonder. Doesn't matter for a booklet as the other side gets printed anyway but for something that gerts folded and glued, like a 7" cover then 'bleed' starts to make sense.

Actually you definitely need a bleed for a booklet. See the equipment they use to cut them to size isn't exactly precise. If your artwork IS precise and has a colored background (say black) then you'll likely end up with a white strip along the top, bottom and/or sides.

If you make sure to go about 1/8 of an inch over-size in all directions and be sure your artwork is centered you'll be fine.
