we don't need rest!!
What is a good, FREE, CD copying program I can use with Winxp to copy a CD from one drive to another without saving to my hardrive?... both audio and data CDs?

I have been using CD architect(for audio only) for so long now that I am out of the loop for other programs. I used to use CD creater, but the version I have is no longer compatible with XP.

Nero is usually bundled with burners. Do you still have any CDs that came with your burner? Perhaps there's something there like Nero or Easy CD Creator.

OK...THANKS APL.

I had originally deleted a bunch of unused stuff on my computer when I first got it, since I wanted to choose my own software rather than have Dell decide for me!. However, there was a program called "record now" by sonic that came with my burners and is exactly what I need for making copies, etc.

However, CD architect has yet to be beat for burning red book audio CDs in my opinion.

Thanks again....just needed to dig out the old "install disks" and put it back on.

Cakwalk Pyro for $30.00 is a great program. Even lets you edit the waves and auto sets all of the volumes the same. You can add plugin efffects. I call it a mini mastering suite for the poor man :)

Thx deep... CD architect I would reason would go waaay beyond with extended capabilities for audio CDs. However, I haven't really looked at many other programs recently, but rather kept my Sound Forge updated. That said, I actually prefer other stereo editing programs over CD arch, and use it for primarily just burning the final CD.

My goal was to quickly make exact copies of CDs, and quick backups, data CD copies.... stuff like that in which admittedly CD architect is not geared for.

However, I need to keep better updated of all these other programs that are currently available.

I got Nero Express with my CD burner.
You can work with data, music and video.

It can also put video content onto a regular CD, format = Video CD (VCD)
Then it will play in any DVD player, becuase it's MPEG-1. About 74 minutes worth.
I've used it for a teleprompter with backing midi tracks, via a PC Karaoke program and use freeware CamStudio 2.0 to capture A/V as AVI, then burn to VCD with Nero. Nero does the video conversion.

One nice feature with Nero is CD to CD copy. Put original in, program copies to HD, then place a blank CD and copies from HD.

yeah nero express is actually a pretty handy program, and was free with my LG dvd writer.

Pyro can do that and its a breeze. The "homepage" or opening page gives you those option with just a click.
