First, we need to know if your console outputs in Digital or analog, (I am assuming you are using some sort of stand-alone device to record on here, feel free to correct me)
If the console has digital output, you will only need a sound card with digital input. Avoud the SB Lives, because, (I have heard) that they have to up sample everything to 48k and back down to 44.1 and that can effect quality.
If your sound card has a Digital input for your CD-Rom, you can use a CD-Rom DA cable and connect it to an RCA jack, (Assuming your output is S/PIDF, TosLink requires a bit more work.)
If you are outputting to analog, you will want to get a good sound card to convert the signal to analog. (There are other forums here where you can get advice on that)
Depending on tha card, you may need an adapter cable, (Stereo RCA-1/8 in. Mini jack)
