Anyone useing Cat 5 for in wall cable? Computers use it for Ethernet and it has no shield to cause ground loops.

Do NOT use CAT 5 for audio. No shield and solid conductors. VERY poor for audio.

Plus, if you work alone, have more than one room, and use a DAW, you should wire every place for Cat5 anyway - with a pair of Cat5 KVM extenders and a cheap LCD monitor/keyboard/mouse, you can control your entire system from anywhere within 500 feet of the 'puter -

You run a cat5 patch bay in the CR, lines to it from everywhere you might want to record or listen, then patch to the desired place in the CR, take your porta-monitor setup into the room, plug into the cat5 in the room, and CONTROL...
