i know most dont use tapes anymore but i have a yamaha MT3X and
i cant find new tapes for it does anyone know where i can get 4 track tapes
for it thanks leo.

I wish I could help, I'm looking for CrO2 tapes too. I had to get a friend who owns a music store to special order the last ones I got, and he had to search around to find them. Don't bother going to Radio Shack, those people don't even know what CrO2 tape is anymore. High bias tapes will work and aren't too noisy, just a little tape hiss (I have a Yamaha MT 120) which can be taken out with a little high cut on the EQ. If you find a good source for CrO2 tapes let me know, I still find lots of uses for cassette recorders.

thanks for that i will keep at it if i find gold i will let you in on it :D

THey just don't exist in Australia anymore. normal pos & ferro are gettable & chyrome 90mins are more available than 60s but chrome 60s a virtually unfindable. I haunt eBay in hope & have a little stash to do me & my MT100 for a while longer.
If only I'd become a hoarder when they were still readily available in cheapoh shops about 3 years ago.

I missed a golden opportunity to make a mint myself. They are all over the 100 yen ( like a $.99 store) stores in Japan when I was stationed there just a year and a half ago. They come in 30, 60, and 90 minute sizes, in singles or packs of 4.
If I would have known.... I would have bought all I could get my hands on.

MAXELL Canada shows them as a current product on their website

I'm fortunate to have about 200 of these ( some are 20 years old )
What do you think the record companies do with "demo tapes" ... throw them out. So, someone I know scooped all the CrO2 tapes a few times for me.
A pain to work with sometimes, because you can hear channel 3+4 backwards (other side of the tape in Stereo), if you forget to turn them off.

By the way, I have the same model Yamaha 4 track, and use it as my Mixer into the PC. High quality cassette playback for transfering the old archives to PC. The good stuff only.

Blank cassette tapes? Hell our local Walmart has them. So does Office Max, Office Depot and Staples. They are everywhere in Ohio

specifically CrO2 ( Chrome )

By the way, all cassettes are 4 track. 2 one side, 2 the other.
With a 4 Track recorder, like the Yamaha MTX3, you can "track" all 4 in one direction, thus "4 track"

The Yamaha MTX3 uses DBX for noise reduction, rather than Dolby.

Thanks, you learn something everyday. I was thinking there were special models of tape for 4-track casette recorders (which I have never used).
