Hi guys,

I'm looking for the best method of recording cassette tapes to my hard drive and cleaning them up as much as possible. I have a bunch of tapes of some bands I was in that were mostly recorded with two PZM mics using a couple of different recorders. I have a SB16 sound card,P-II 400 and plenty of hd space but lacking alot of cash right now but if the software is worth it I don't have a problem scraping up the money because these tapes are pretty important to me and I don't want them to rot.

Thanks,

You can go from the stereo outs of a casette deck into the soundcard with a dual RCA(if thats what your deck has) to 1/8" stereo cable....

as far as software, goldwave at www.goldwave.com is really cheap and you can use it to recod to your hard drive and do the cleanup work.....

Thanks!

I went with N-Tracks and are having pretty good success with it so far.

I really appreciate your response,I will check out goldwave as well.

I use N-Track also for multitracking...Its awesome....but Goldwave has some great tools for doing just what you are trying to do and its free.....

I agree, I d-loaded it earlier today and it is perfect, now I have both! Maybe I'll start fooling around with recording again. thanks for the help.
