Cassette questions

I need to filter a cassette tape of background noise so I can hear the voices. I need to know what hardware and software I need to get for my computer to clear it up and record it back to the tape. Are there cards out there to do this or will a regular sound card be ok?

What you really need is a good EQ. You can use it to filter out some of the noise, but you will lose some high frequency information also - no way around it.
