carvin tube mic?

hey, has anyone heard anything about the carvin tube mic? its $300 and has 9 different polar patterns, comes with a carrying case, shockmount, xlr cable carry pouch. i just ordered the perception 200 by akg, for about $200, but this looks like a much -better buy. looks like there is a 12axl in there? i am wondreding if this mic is better enough to exchange my other mic for it. help me if you can.

Do a search on the Apex 460 and Nady TCM-1150.

EXACT same mic!

If this is the mic you are looking at, you can find the Nady version much cheaper on eBay. MUCH cheaper!!

I haven't heard the peception, but so far the reviews have been pretty positive.

The Apex is nice. Pretty versatile and has a few issues that need solving to bring it up to "high-end" level. It sounds great on some things and could use a little help on others. It is a very warm mic, but some said older versions had a somewhat sizzly top frequency. (though mine wasn't)

We've been discussing mods for it around here and some other places.
 
is it possible that carvin would do some minor mods before selling it?
thare usually a good company and don't see how they would be charging so much more for it.
