Perhaps I should have posted this with RACKS forum, but,
I'm interested in any feedback from anyone who is using
the SX300R. I just got one this week. I was planning on
using it strictly for recording direct to a 16 track DAW and through a Samson S.com4. When double checking with Carvin on connections, the tech mentioned that I'd be better of miking
a cab. That's not how I read the advertising. I can still do
the miking. It's just a matter of wanting not to disturb the
love of my life while I crank.
Feedback appreciated.

tdukex,
My first response was going to ask "Why?". But after doing
some searching hereabouts, I found a few answers.
Seems that there are not very many Carvin fans within these
threads.
Messed around with it a bit this weekend using only
headphones. Seemed a bit weak. After reading a caution
within these threads about doing any DI, I'm a bit leary of
it now.
Not too many fans of Carvin mics either.????????
I'm pleased with the condensor that I have.

thanks,

I like some of Carvin's mid level PA speakers and amps for smaller gigs, and their Bass guitar amps. But I don't care for their mixers, mics(except that SDC that takes the AA battery) effects or much else.

Every one of the Carvin mixers I've run across in installed situations had a channel out, or a buss that didn't work.

I played through a Carvin Bel Air combo amp that I really liked once, but that's the only other thing I can think of.

I could be wong, but I don't think this Carvin box was designed for direct recording. The POD and J-Station are--and they rock, IMO. You can get a J-Station for $129--lots of tones.
