I am just kind of starting out in the recording world and i am very green. Therefore, I hope I have come to the right place. So far my friend and I start up our so-called studio we have purchased a few mics that I think are decent some nice monitors pro tools8 and a Tascam dp-02. Most of the recording is done on the Tascam and the mixing and editing is done with pro tools. So from here it seems to me that we need to start to work on our rack or at least I am lead to understand. my thoughts on this is if the price of a decent pre amp is around $500 and that is just one channel why not buy a vintage recording mixer with 16 pres and eqs. At the moment, i am looking at a Carvin MX1688. you can take a look at it here http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/msg/1688087473.html let me know what you think is this a good deal is my assumption right or am I way off base? Thanks for your time.
