Sounds like fun, man.
Yeehaaw!
Let's see... you're recording this on a four track, right? You get pretty limited when you're mixing so much stuff through one of those.
You asking for comments? Huh?
How about cranking up the bass fer starters. Also, with the main flat top panned so far to the right, the mix isn't balanced well. It's kinda like: "Ladies & gentlemen, if you turn your attention to my right, a guitar!!! - to my left, everything else!!!" well, maybe not that dramatic. :D
You've got some moments that really shine in there like the fiddle lines and the mandolin solo - they could be brought out a bit more. Anyway, that's how I feel about it. Take it or leave it, bitch!
:D

Bet you're gettin' hyped about that new recorder aren't you? I ran across it looking through a catalog (while in the can, of course) - looks like you got a sweet deal.

Later.

Damn, I'm an idiot. I was reviewing "Level Headed Dancer." Oh well. I'll put the "Carolina in the Pines" review in that thread. :D

Greg, you slut,
It don't make much diff. My ears hear'em all the same. I went for a long time doing this with everything straight up until someone said try panning a little. Huh? What's that? I just put up 4 mics and hope everyone gets in. My D28 normally comes thru a little strong. I'm not sure what happened to the bass. Sounded great in the phones ( well, maybe not great, but there ), and live it sounded almost to loud. Just didn't come thru the mics I guess. On my monitors, when I play the cd, the bass is there but low. But damn, we had more fun than a horny dog with 2 dicks. And I got so bad.
Thanks for the listen.
Got to go.

Uh, that might've been me actually - but... no one ever listens to me @ home so's I figured no one would listen to me here either - go figure.
:D

You've got some dangerous mandolin rhythm chops going there...

Have you tried dumping these tracks into a computer? I suppose you'd have to do it all at once to make sure everything was in synch and have something that could take four tracks simultaneously. So much for a soundblaster... It just strikes me that you have a great deal of really good raw material here and you could make good use of a multitrack program. This is tailor made for something like n-track (especially at $42.00 to register the whole program). Hey, keep 'em coming!

Damn Treeline,

I just ordered a 788. I know my wife will kick my ass if I spend anything for a while. he he he. Maybe I'll slip that purchase in this fall. You know I still have this thought of sitting at the puter hours on end editing, tweaking, working on some song. Then I already spend hours on end talking to you guys and gals here. And I pick a little, or a lot, almost every day. Let's see, work an average of maybe 6 hours a day times 4 or 5 times a week. Try to get at least 6 hours sleep every day. See what I mean? But it also took me 4-5 years thinking I didn't want any digital gear and I got the 788. So there's hope. he he he he he.
That's sweet singging David Crews on the mando. He's an original member of the SHB and played banjo as his main axe up until 2 years ago when he ran across a Ratliff mando at a good deal, and he fell in love. So I'm back on the old 6 string. I'll get out some good mando chops when I get the 788 for ya'll to hear.

More to come.
Thanks,

dtb

788? You're golden.

Permission requested for an off - topic post...

The 788 (drool, drool) has a S/PDIF output.

For $34.00 plus shipping, you can get an S/PDIF input for your soundblaster card in the typical Intel type setup.

www.hoontech.com/english/

and then click on "products" and scroll down to SB DB III. That gets a digital signal into your system. I have absolutely no idea how many channels you can move at once, but he idea is pretty tempting at that price. Add to that the juice in the n-track forum on this BBS and you have a killer combination...
