Capturing video from a DVD ?

Just curious . . .


Any simple way to extract video from a DVD? Maybe transfer it to an .MPG file or similar?


Or does one have to go the video card route?

lots of software.
capturing video from commerical dvds is illegal unless you own it. so most programs will NOT let you do it. they have "CSS" copyright protection, which DVD players decode, and your computer wont without some type of software.

anyway, this is the computer recording and soundcards forum...is it not?! haha.

but by the way, DVD is MPEG-2 video.
