My designated recording area ( I hesitate to call it a studio) is in my basement. The house is a "tri-level" with the second floor above the basement. The 2nd floor is cantilevered about 4 ft past the basement wall. In an effort to improve the "R factor" of the house I stuffed the overhanging areas with 12" batts of fibreglass. It seems to me that the low end sounds much tighter now. Could it be that the stuffed overhang areas are acting as bass traps?? Wishful thinking???

Sure. A typical bass trap is just a cavity stuffed with insulation.

Thanks Texas.......and it keeps the house warm in winter......lol
