I'm trying to sync my Alesis HR16 to n-track using midi
clock, but the drum machine wont respond at all.Admitadly
the things a dinosaur, but I've never had a problem syncing
to another device.I'm running the midi cable out the
midi/gameport thingie on the back of a cheapo ESS soundcard.
Are there any settings anyone can suggest I try?any help would be appreciated.

one thing to try you might already know this but I'm gonna say it anyway....make sure the in is in the out and the out is in the in...??? confusing huh?...and also theres a setting in N-track to have it sync to master devices make sure it's checked/enabled the one on the right hand side and set your timming to 0.00.00 so when N-track is waiting for your master device to start it will start recording as soon as you push play on the drum machine...I don't know how much different it will work I have a MPC2000xl

oh yea about the ess...I had one...it was only good for playing cd's and the stupid windows sounds...you might want to get something a little bit newer

sorry I responded with a bunch of garbage...I'm a newbie :)

Thanx Rassizzm.I tried a variation of that already, using the comp as the master.I'll try it the other way and also
double check to make sure my cables are plugged into the right places.
I agree about the Ess but theres nothing I can do at the moment.A good 24bit card is next on the list but still a couple months down the road.
Any advice for getting rid of track bleed. It seems that no matter what I do or how closely I follow the instructions
track 1 bleeds into track 2 etc..Any advice would be appreciated.

In tracking on my mpc I never get bleeding...I really don't know what causes that...what I do when I'm tracking is to get all the tracks trasfered from my keyboards and stuff to my computer...if it sounds off I contuie going until I get that part completed...then when that finished I go back and adjust the tracks put efx's on them and make is sound good...

I figuered it out.It was a panning thing.Thanx alot for
your help Rassizzm.
