I have a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 and a preamp (Focusrite ISA One)
I connect the preamp through a Line input of the Scarlett (XLR to TRS cable)
When I try to record with Ableton Live 8.2.2 it doesn't get a signal from Line 3 or 4 of the Scarlett.
But if I connect the mic directly to to the Mic input in the scarlett, it works.
The problem seems to be my computer is not picking up Line 3 or 4. and I can't figure out how to map/route it.

By connecting to Line 3, I can still hear the mic working on my studio monitor and it also works on Adobe Audition CS5.5 as it gives the option to map the audio channel.
I tried messing with the Scarlett Mixer, but whatever settings I doesn't seem to help.

Should I get a different audio interface, or just connect the preamp to the mic input, or is there a way to map the channels?

Thank you very much, I'm really stuck.

edit--
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. USB 2.0..

figured it out! just now. Didn't think about changing the channels on Ableton Live.. hehe.

same problem one year later... I have not yet figured out how to reach channels beyond 1 + 2 in Ableton Live (free version). It works to pull the keyboard cables out of the back into the front--then they are 'heard'; but very frustrating trying to figure out the proper way to get Ableton Live to listen to inputs 3, 4 etc...

Make sure that your system is showing more than one channel. Ableton just pulls from the system. If your hardware has its own driver and configuration software, you should see all of your inputs (outputs as well). Then in Ableton, turn on the I/O viewer so you can see the input channels. There is where you select the external inputs.
