Hi
I installed a few things in a row - DOH!! now I'm not sure what caused the problem but .... I can't rip cd's, I can't play back cd's and I can't burn cd's. Sound forge can't "find" my cd burner. Wave lab says "the file WNASPI32.DLL is missing in your system " and so sez nero ... but the file is in my windows/system folder. Any idea how I get the damn thing to work again.
by the way, the pgr's I installed just before this happened was wavelab4 and winamp
any help apreiciated ... dam'n .. don't wanna do a format C: ... please don't tell me to do a format C: ..... nooooooooooooo format ...
:( biz

never mind ... tried to reinstall windows - didn't help ... so I did the format C: and now everything seems to work ... thoiugh I still have to do all the tweaking - yeah I know - do a back up ... when will I ever learn ?

Haha holy smokes... you sure took the extreme route :)

Take a look here (near the bottom of the page):
http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm

You could have downloaded it there, but my guess is that simply reinstalling nero would have fixed you up.

Yeah that's a harsh solution. But try to look on the bright side, at least your system is "clean" now.

I would urge you to use a program like Ghost or Drive Image to make a backup of your system now, while it's still fairly clean. Write your image in 650 meg chunks, then use your (now working) Nero to write them to CDR. It will save you a LOT or time if you every again decide to rebuild your system software.

thanks for the replys. Wavelab suggested two sites where I should be able to find the .dll file, microsoft and another one I don't remember the name of. Did a search on the microsnot site, found nothing, downloaded a .exe file from the other site, executed it and that didn't help either. As I wrote, the file was in my windows/system dir all the time, it just wasn't reciognised ... I'm done with winamp, got it all up running, installed winamp and got the same freakin' problem ..... now I've formatted twice in a day  guess I'll better do that ghost now!!!
