Can't play back CDs/ audio files from my PC

Had one of my sons mates around who showed me how to utilize extra channels from my interface to record drums. Unfortunately he did something that corrupted the playback of Cds and wave files and didn’t know what he'd done or how to correct it. I can still playback and hear everything from cubase without a problem. Would you have an idea what the problem might be. I am using an emu 1820 audio interface and it seems to be set to Emu e-dsp as the default for playback but im not sure. I have had a look through the manual but I am not sure what I m looking for. I am a bit of a novice

please help
