Can't Pause in HS 2002

Hello,

We just switched from cakewalk 3.0 on a windows 3.1 machine (haven't really used it in a while) to Home studio 2002. My first impression was that major upgrades do not always mean major improvements in usability (at the moment I think the track view in 3.0 makes more sense than the track view in 2002). I suppose as we get used to it our opinion may change.

As I was going through tutorial #1, it said to pause during a song click on the STOP button or the PLAY button. When I do this, the song immediately goes back to the beginning of the song -- in effect, I don't really have the ability to pause. Is this a known issue or do I have some setting I can check (the loop from is set to 1, but it doesn't seem to matter if I have loop clicked on or off)?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Sorry to hear you are having these problems, it may be the machine you are on or the Operating System

In all cases hitting the spacebar starts and stops playback. If not, post back with the specification of your machine, its operating system and soundcard.

I use HS2002 and think it is superb, a huge improvement over previous versions. I hope you get to feel the same way about it as I do one day:)

Paul,

Thanks for the reply! We loaded one of our earlier wrk files and the stop/play did the pause/restart function as advertised. It must just be some loop setting is activated in tutorial #1 that I can't find yet.

I am sure that 2002 is a big improvement, it is just gonna take some time for us to get used to it.

Again, thanks for the reply.

The way to stop it rewinding to the start time in Sonar is to go

Transport - Loop and Auto Shuttle - Rewind to Start Time on Stop

Uncheck the box. If it's not exactly the same in HS then check the help file for Auto Shuttle.
