Can't import Tascam tracks into Music Creator

I'm new at this so please bear with me. I have a Tascam 788 digital 8-track recorder from which I've copied the 4 tracks I have recorded onto cd as wav files. Then I copied those files to a location on the hard drive of my computer and am trying to import them into Music Creator Pro. But I get the following error:

"Unable to import wave file. The files audio format is incompatable with the current project."

HELP!

I guess I don't know. I don't know what format the 788 creates. Do you?
 
Nope.

Are there instructions?
How bout' the tascam forum?
