can't hear what i'm recording

i just bought a new A/D/A the RME adi-2 and when i connect it to my presonus firepod i can record stuff and i can hear stuff played back but I cannot hear what's being recorded at the same time as playback. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong or settings changes?

What program are you using on your computer to record? You should be able to unmute the tracks your'e recording and send them out your mix bus along with your previously recorded tracks.

Or the mixing applet for your sound card should have a provision to route the input directly to the output. This might be better since it avoids latency issues.

I had a similar problem in Cubase VST when i got my new Soundblaster audigy 2. All i did was tick a box that said "monitor" or something along those lines.
Could be something small like that.

I have a soundblaster audigy 2 that I don't use anymore! It's still connected but I uninstalled the software.
