can't hear effects while tracking

what am i doing wrong here??

I can add delay and reverb AFTER the track is recorded.....but, I can't figure out how to send a mix w/reverb and delay through the headphones to the singer while hes tracking.

I'm using polug ins???

DO I have to use outboard gear in order to do this??

Shouldnt I be able to color the signal the singer hears in his headphones? he likes a bit 'o reverb while he tracks...

right now he gets a dry tone while he sings, and only AFTER its recorded can I seem to get a reverb on there..

what gives???

as well as the thread that was linked...the newest issue of EQ (w/Dweezil Zappa on cover) has an article/tutorial explaing how to set up cubase so that you can monitor w/effects real-time..
