I am looking to purchase a 2 input sound card for a conference recording software and I can find lots of sound cards but the mic inputs are all mono. All I need is a stereo mic input. Obviously there are fancer cards but this is for a non-profit group that doesn't have lots of $$
TIA

I have never seen a soundcard with a stereo mic input. Just buy a Y-adapter and split the stereo cable into its L and R connectors.

Some basic computer soundcards have a stereo line-in....

A stereo mic input?

What for?

Don't stereo mics just have two mono XLR plugs?

I am looking for stereo mic inputs

When I look at the mixer for say a sound Blaster the mic input appears to me mono ... I would need a preamp to use the line input

Yes, you are indeed out of luck.

One audiobuddy is $80 or so. That plus one soundcard with a stereo line in will do it for you.

is there a MAya 44 in my life?

for the cost of a preamp I might as well get a Maya 44 - no?
TIA

Huh?

The Audiobuddy costs $90 online. Why would you want the Maya44? Its $120 online.

I think you're confusing balanced 1/4" connections with stereo - they are not the same thing.

The Maya still has only one mic input, so you would need a two-channel mic preamp to use a pair of mics into the Line In, thereby spending extra money for nothing.
