Slowing becoming un-noob.
I can't find one anywhere.

Anyone better at searching than I am?

I'm in the U.S. if that helps, so no UK sites, unless shipping is free, ha.

Price isn't too much of a factor, the cheaper the better. But as of now I can't find Anything.

Thanks guys.

You must have a drum shop close to you that has an old..... er.... 'experienced' drummer as the salseman/tech. I know I do here. And often these guys have a garage full of 'junk' at home. I have been saved the anguish of eBay many times as they bring in for me old throw-offs or tom mounts. Ask around your local store. As a side note, a 13" five lug drum suggest 'budget' or 60's Japanese. Even most of the 60's Japanese stuff I collected and went through over the years had six lugs. Even the cheap snares had six lugs. Five lug toms may be hard to find, and the rims may be even more difficult to track down. But don't give up; keep asking.

I have a Royce set. If you were wondering.

I live 2 hours from the nearest music store of any kind. So I can't do that. But I would love to be able to get a 5 lug hoop. Otherwise I might just have to mod the tom to have a 6 lug hoop. I'd prefer not to have to drill holes in the drum though.

I do not have the number handy, but try and get a phone number for the Chicago Store in Tucson Arizona. They have a huge attic filled with old drum stuff that they have completely dismantled and put into sections. When I was up there a few months ago they must have had at least 500 drum shells kicking around, most of them very old. Undoubtedly they probably have some 13" 5 lug hoops around there somewhere;)

I wouldn't drill under any circumstances. The lug spacing has to be 'balanced' to make tuning easy and accurate. Wherever you put the one extra lug will have more tension in that spot. I would just keep looking on eBay. If you don't take a drive on your holidays to check music stores, eBay is the only resort. Well, you could try people like Dale's Drum Shop, but I have a feeling that rim is going to be tough to find. If it's just for the bottom rim, you can play and record with it until you find a bottom rim. If the tom has no rims at all..... :(

I'd re-drill all of the wholes if I re-drill at all. I would make sure to have them as evenly spaced as I could. It would probably mean having basically 2 sets of wholes on my tom.

Right now the tom just sounds dead without a bottom head. It's just nothing. Recording it isn't too bad, but it isn't good by any means.
So yeah. I need to get a bottom head on it, so I'll do what I have to.

But yeah.

LOL, come on lads, You would HAVE to redrill all holes (unless you have found some ingenius method of tuning with one lug!!) Remember the spacing for each lug will be farther apart for a 5 lug rim than a 6 lug rim of the same diameter. Only one lug would match!! :D

Yeah, I got that. That's why I would re-drill all of them. Or all but one rather.

I'm also looking for 13" 5 lug rim along with a 12" and a 16". I just found this site jamminsam.com (can't post a hyperlink) maybe they can help I tried to call but they are closed on Saturday I assume.

ebay has them man, elenore19 knows this now :D they're pretty easy to find just keep searching ;)
