I seem to have hit a major problem with incompatibility as I assumed in perhaps blissfull ignorance that I could buy a new laptop with windows 7 then buy a Tascam USB 144MK II interface and basically with the Cubase software provided be able to plug in and play/ record, no way!

It would seem that a) drivers for the Tascam 144 are not yet developed for Windows 7 b) the cubase LE4 version 4.1.2 .851 updated with hotfix 4.1.3.853 is compatible with Windows 7 but currently unclear if this is only for 32 bit processor and not 64 bit which is what my computer has.

So with much frustration I cannot seem to get a recording signal to the Cube base LE4.

I have contacted both Tascam and Steinberg but no real solution other than waiting for the Tascam drivers to be developed assuming that is the problem.

Anyone got any ideas? I have followed the manuals so I assume its installed ok but if there are any checks I could do any info would be appreciated I only want to record guitar and vocal.

Big question I have only just thought of, did I "need" to purchase a new sound card as i only have what is in the computer. i.e although not ideal would the existing sound card still work ok with the right drivers etc.

Any advice would be appreciated

you need to download the latest drivers from Tascam.
I just got a Tascam M-164UF and didn't bother using the install CD. I downloaded the latest driver from the Tascam site, and no issues.

hey

it might be already working ...did you assign your inputs and outputs to your interface? If you have already and you think your drivers are the problem try downloading Asio4all driver...my Presonus Audiobox driver didnt work and did this and now everything is fine:D Good luck!

Thanks i will try these out and let you know how i get on
