Hard Panning/Mixdown to CD issues

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I am using a 16 track analog reel to reel, I mixed my tracks to a master 2 track deck, and then burned to CD using a stand alone CD burner.

My mix down reel sounded fine, I could hear everything including the tracks that were hard panned.

But in the burned CD I could not hear the hard panned tracks.

Does anyone here know why this is and can you answer this question?
I would really appreciate answers

Also. how do you know whether or not you are mixing down in mono or stereo?

We recorded in mono.

Thanks, stephanie

I already went over this with you, here.

If you record everythung in mono, you won't end up with stereo tracks.

Here's an audio glossary.

Mono - Shortened from Monophonic and meaning that there is only one sound source or the signal was derived from one sound source.

Stereo- A recording or reproduction of at least two channels where positioning of instrument sounds left to right can be perceived.

An instrument recorded in mono can be panned to any position in the stereo field.

What two track deck and what mixer are you using?

I'm really not sure why your hard panned tracks didn't show up on the CD. Did you put anything in between the two track deck and the CD burner?

Did the cords between your 2 track deck and your CD burner somehow cause the problem?
(like a 1/8" mono connector at your PC, instead of a tip-ring-sleeve, stereo connector.)
