I posted the below over at comute/record...however if there are any D24 users who are dumping 8 tyracks at a time into Logic-Cubase or whatever
-maybe we can help one another.....

A FOSTEX tech in Montreal Canada here says you cannot get true phaze lock on a PC when dumping over 8 tracks at a time via the litepipe:he says its
because of inconsistencies in [a] the PC!

Wow-I just spent alotta doe on rentals for the session -now
I cant get it into Logic to mix!?? How will I mix it -Ive no outboard gear!

I think i can run my FX from Logic back in thru a Mackie--but all in all
not much fun! [Probably sound bigger tho]

Im stunned... I cant believe its that hard to get phaze lock etc...

Thanx.

Hi
Are you talking of synching the the pc to say the fostex Adat?
I have this by setting my RME digi as the master and the Adat to Adat slave and I get full sync. I can then dump 8 tracks into Sonar at once.
Cheers

actually i did it in reverse-I set my audio card on the PC as slave.

However one of the problems i had was that i could only dump 8 at a time from the Fostex-and so I had everything MIDI synced via MTC.

MTC is not sample accurate locking!!

So my locking problems were not related to word clock or litepipe.

Anyhow my fix was to record claps on the Fostex at the beginning of ALL the tracks-then track delay in Logic Audio for acurate sync.---It worked!

Huh? I transfer 24 tracks at a time from an HD24 via Lightpipe through a MOTU 2408 to PC all the time and it's always sample accurate. If there's a problem, it ain't the PC.

yer recording 24 all in one pass I assume.

anyway it doesnt matter what the fostex guy said.

For me its an inaccuracy in MTC locking the external recorded to the computer recorder-in my case Logic Audio on a PC.

Maybe thats what he was referring too...he had a thick French / English
accent so thats probably half the problem!
