Hi,
After wresstling with this problem for a few days I'm kind of at a dead end and have no new ideas so thought I would pitch up the problem here to see if anyone can give me some advice.
Recently got a new PC which came with a ASUS D2 soundcard, the problem is that cubase (AI 5) just will not notice the sound coming in on the mic.
On the audio control panel I have disabled everything except the soundcard's speakers and the microphone, I have switched off exclusivity and if I play my MP3 player into the mic I can hear the sound come out the speakers so mechanically everything looks good. Monitoring and boost are both switched on.
On cubase I have chosen the ASUS Xonar ASIO driver and for the ins on device setup it shows IN-00 and IN-01 (left and right) and have no option to add to or edit these. On the VST connections looking at the input bus it gives IN-00 and IN-01 as the options for stereo in.
If I set up a audio track nothing comes through. I'm no cubase expert but I have never had to do anything different on previous setups (creative cards usually).
Am I missing something? Is there anyway to gain more information on where cubase is looking to get its sound? thanks for any help.
p.s. I am using the Unified xonar drivers but functionality wise it looks the same as the proprietary ones.
p.p.s The generic ASIO driver works fine, I was using ASIO 4 ALL but get the microsoft wavesynth clash which causes hassle and is not ideal.
