Flailing up a storm.
I have been playing around with my new Fostex MR8, and lacking on drum tracks. I will have the ability to play them myself and record, but not for a bit.
What I'm wondering is... are there any resources you folks know about where there are MP3, wav or what have you file of jsut drum beats/loops etc that a person can (legally) use to play around with/over.
Mostly I jsut want to be able to play poor bass lines, then add guitar, etc to get better at recording in general. I haven't even ventured to think someone might have whole song drum parts for the taking. But any ideas?

Thanks

Yo DaaV:

You might want to consider getting a drum machine to ease into doing some stuff. The machine will set the meter for you and you won't need a click track. You can do chords and drum machine together and add on from there. Overdubbing as it's called.

A drum machine can be programmed; however, it takes time and patience to do that and a keen knowledge of the song you are doing -- like all the music written out.

If you go with a drum machine, the Boss 770 is a great little box. I also have the SR-16 and a Yam drum box; but, they sit on the sidelines since I got the newer technology.

When you're starting out, you might want to use the "fade-out" method as that will make it easy to end a song. Ending right on the button takes more practice and an extra arm to reach out and hit the drum off button or a cymbal crash and then the off button.

Get in there and start twiddling the dials and have fun.

Green Hornet :D :p
