Can you still buy Cool Edit Pro?

A couple weeks ago, I downloaded the old Cool Edit Pro 2 - demo version - and in the help area, it tells you you can buy Cool Edit Pro -can you still buy this software somewhere or is Adobe Audition the only choice now? I followed their link but I could only find either Audition or a newer program called Soundbooth.

no retail source for CE pro or otherwise, CEP v2.x became Audition 1.0

1.5, 2 and now the complete (more or less) code rewrite V 3.x (with a new 'patch' just released) followed (so that's three and two halfs between CEP 3 and current incarnation (and it might have been as long as 5 years since Syntrillum sold to Adobe . . . a life time ago in computer years) (apparently five and a half years)

no legitimate way to activate CEP v2

and to get upgrade price on AA you need an activated earlier edition

I've been using Cool Edit pro2 for years now and I need to upgrade. What are the major differences between Cool Edit and Audition? Or would I be better off just learning Pro Tools?

you dont need protools, A.A. works amazingly well. the plug ins are 100 times better than cool edit, the layout is the same and easy to use, but its all just 100 times better. if you get A.A. you'll be pretty surprised at what you where missing out on.
