can you help me with compression settings?

Hi eveyone. I'm trying to get a good idea of a starting point on me compressers, ratio thres and attack/release, for vocals . My problem is that vocals are so darn dynamic that I get thrown a curve ball everytime, so to speak. Can anyone tell me what settings are good to work from to start with, and how to progress in the technique of setting them from there? I have Beringer autocom and multicom pro compressers, dynamic beta 58,57,56s, and the MD8.
