Hi:
I have an MBox 2 Mini and an ART Tube MP Studio Preamp that I'm looking to record with Pro Tools 7.4.2. I would like to be able to record vocals and acoustic guitar simultaneously on two separate tracks and connecting the Preamp to my MBox 2 Mini is the only way to do this according to Avid. For this to work properly, I have to connect a cable from the Line Outputs of my ART Tube MP Studio Preamp to the Line Inputs on my MBox 2 Mini. The problem is that the only cable that I have for my Preamp does not do this, it only connects to the preamps lineoutputs, but not to the MBox 2 Mini's lineinptus. So, my question is: Can someone out there recommend a cable that will connect from the lineouts of my ART Tube MP Studio Preamp to the Line Inputs of my MBox 2 Mini?
Thank you.

You need a 1/4 inch jack to jack cable.

I forget if the line in on the mini is balanced or not. So you need either a TS or a TRS cable.

Simple!

Thanks

Great. Thanks for your advice. I'll get that cable.

The XLR output on your Tube MP is balanced and the 1/4 output is TS (tip-sleeve) unbalanced. 1/4" input on Ch2 of your Mbox Mini can be either balanced or unbalanced. So, I would recommend getting an XLR female to 1/4" TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) cable so that you can send a balanced signal from your pre to the input of the Mbox.

If that's the case, then I agree, but can you show me where you found that the Mbox mini has a balanced in? I couldn't find that info!
