Can we share sounds?

I was thinking a forum section or even a single thread that allowed us to share sounds for free. Im talking individual .wav files that we just have lying around. I get a bunch from freesound.org that I like to try and manipulate. For example, the brakes of a city bus with a cool air release sound. I would appreciate help building an awesome library.
 
Well I have an awesome bluebird mic but I dont think Ill be taking anywhere outside of my house to use. Plus I wouldnt be able to get half the sounds Im thinking of. I was hoping a bunch of people on here had a nice library already.
 
Why not load your sounds to one of the places online that feature free sound files?

I was looking for some ocean wave sounds, someone here (Armistice, maybe?) offered up a couple of samples, but I ended up finding just what I needed at an online site.

I LOVE sound fx ..... not to be a newbie here but what would be some of those free sites?

that is a cracking idea .. problem with these threads is they start of with good intentions,but 6 months down the line when most of the links are dead they become a huge PITA infesting google with pages of tripe,just what you want when looking for something ;)
 
The sound Im looking for at this moment is hard to explain. I picture a heavily guarded steel door that has an awesome disarming sound when opened on command.

This is a sample of what Im looking for. They cut it a bit short but if you listen close to the background sound effect youll definitely get what Im picturing...

Recently a guy called Eldoraya or something like that, from, I think, Portugal, suggested a similar sub~forum.

Yeah.
With a Zoom H1, you can record your own sounds and the quality is good and it fits easilly in the pocket.
It's such great fun getting sounds yourself. I spent ages trying to get the sound of a crow going "AAAWWWKKK !". I want to slip it in in a song that has the line "'that's life', said the crow". The crows round here start awking but as soon as I get the H1 out, they stop and fly away ! But I got a couple of good ones last week. It was a triumphal moment for me !!
 
Crow calls are infamous in Australia. A famous TV host/comedian used his own version live to air and was really hauled across the keel for it.
His version of ARRRRRRK began with an F naturally.
It was funny - had to be there I guess.
New Forum would be cool - call it Sleeps With Fishes or Shoes for Bottom Dwellers. OR be obvious & just use Musee Concrete as a fairly easy pun.
