I got a M-Audio Ozone...

The problem is I have to plug the thing in to a wall socket.

I want it to be portable

The wall-wart says:

Class 2 Transformer
MODEL: NF-A0910
INPUT: 120v AC 60Hz
OUTPUT:9V AC 1000mA

My question is can I cut the part off that you plug into the wall.
Get a 9v battery terminal and wire it up to this cord.
Plug a 9v battery up to the cord plug it into the ozone and power it like that?

Dumb idea or worth a shot?

Won't work. A 9 volt battery doesn't put out anywhere near the 1000 mA necessary to run your board...

There are larger battery options around. You might also check with the manufacturer to see if it's ok to go up to 12 volts.

ummm. The output is 9 volts AC. I don't know of any battery that does that. you would need an inverter. It'll most likely be easier to use the wall wart.

edit: I just realized you want full portability. Only thing I can think of is a 12V car battery and one of those cheapo inverters from your local electronics store, and then you'd still use the wall-wart. But the battery isn't very portable. I assume there's smaller 12V batteries, but I don't know what amp rating you'd need to power the inverter with the Ozone for a reasonable amount of time.
