Can someone explain what this means?

255 MIPs DSP Architecture, 96-Channel Streaming Interface
with Hardware Scatter/ Gather Support
18-bit delta-sigma A/D and D/A converters, 16-bit data path.

WHY WOULD I BE JOKING?

It is specs from a midiman dman pci card.

I do not know that much about computer recording.

I am learning though.

sorry.

just thought you were trying to get a wrog answer cuz you didn't specify why you needed to know nor where the info came from... and because you call yourself an audiophile i didn't expect you to go the DAW way...

the A/D/a converters are 18 bit which is reasonable but cards are currently 24-bit ... the 16 bit signal path means the DSP (is onboard effects) are running at 16 bit which isnt that good... a DAW runs at 32 bit...

hope this helps.

Guhlenn,

Thank you very much for you time & information.

I would like to clarify ( at least to you) about my position when

it comes to sound.

I do consider my self an Audiophile, you are correct about that.

Though I understand all about a tight budget... I myself do not own a $10,000

stereo system or recording studio.

I simply believe in a process in purchasing (no matter what it is)

& properly setting it up.

To my ears, speaker stands, interconnects, cable, & yes even a green marker

improve the sound to a degree.

Do I think that all of the above make a drastic difference in sound ?

No.

As far as I'm concerned if the sound is a slight improvement...

It's worth it.

Peace

sure dude...

what ever you want.

i don't think greening a cd does anything to the sound, but hell, if you think it sounds better, knock yourself out!

free world or something i believe...
