Can midi triggered sounds be recorded into VST as audio?

Can midi sounds (ie. midi studio drum kit) be recorded as an audio track in nuendo or cubase?
 
Why not?

Instead of using a midi channel as an input, use the audio channel the midi is playing on.

For me thats SB Extigy wave in... yeah I know Sound Blaster sux.
 
You don't record into VST, you record from VST...
 
As Chuck has indicated, VST's are instruments in themselves.
You can use any midi recorded track and use a VST as the instrument. Then a bounce to disc to convert to an audio file.
