can master tapes get erased if........

i store my tapes inside a cardboard box that sits on a carpet floor that has a high static charge. and my mackie 8bus power supply is next to them too. could this damage my tapes? (da 38 tapes)
 
I doubt it - especially if the power supply is off....

In any case, WHY would you store tapes that way??? :eek:

It might if the power-supply contains a transformer which generates a (varying) magnetic field, and the power-supply is switched on...
