Sonusman, thanks for all your help. I have another ADAT EDIT question: I read in passing that I will have 8 additional tracks with this deal. Is there a mixer somewhere in there too? Can I now go out and buy 8 more mics? Tell me it's so....oh yeah I tried to delete my other question, It wouldn't let me. I guess thats up to the dons. -jax (kissing the pinky ring)

We are all family here, and I take care of family (in my best "don" voice). :D

Well, the ADAT card will expand you to 8 or more tracks, kind of. You need another sound card and software to play it back as the ADAT card does not have A/D or D/A converters.

If you are looking for a good solution for flying in ADAT tracks and editing them, then flying back, this is your card. If you are looking to do the same, but also add a bunch more tracks available at mix time, look elsewhere as the ADAT card is very limited in it's uses.

Don Sonousman, you mean I would have to buy another ADAT EDIT just to listen to the tracks ?

Ah, no, you need another type of soundcard that will be able to handle at least 16 bit, prefereably 24 bit files, also, 48KHz sampling rate...otherwise you will have to use two tracks of you ADAT to listen to the tracks....the ADAT edit card does not have converters on it.....on optical I/O.....
