I have a small project studio that just got a little bigger. I just got a pretty good computer (900mhz, 60gigH.D.) and I'm tired of fooling with these ADATs.I plan to upgrade to a digital console soon. What software and hardware can I use to record through my existing analog console to my computer, using the converters in the ADATs?
Any input appreciated.

A MOTU 2408mkII or a Hammerfall will do it. Cakewalk, Sonar or Vegas or any one of a hundred different software recorder/editors also.

you could check out frontier designs too.i guess it depends on how many adats you have.i have one and have used it into the motu 2408's lightpipe for a few years now,but if the hammerfall card from rme was available then i probably would have gotten it instead.to my knowledge, rme does not intend to write wdm drivers for their product line so an asio software like cubase might be a better fit for the hammerfall.i believe the dakota card from frontier designs has 2 adat connections and wdm drivers so it might work better with cakewalk sonar.that said, any of these pieces in any combination will get the job done for you.

Thanks for the reply, I'll check into it. Where can I find hammerfall on the web?
3 ADATs, by the way

I love my Dakota

http://www.frontierdesign.com

It sells for $399 (try http://www.studiocat.com)

It gives you two channels of ADAT, or 16 total inputs and outputs, plus S/PDIF and 2 MIDI ports.

So far I'm using one of the ADAT I/O's, both the inputs and outputs of the S/PDIF and one of the Midi ports....until I finish cabling!

I use all of this with Cakewalk Sonar on Windows 98 2nd ed. with WDM Beta drivers.
