Can I use an Iomega Zip to upgrade from V1.04?

Greetings to all,
I'm new on this board and I came here looking for info on upgrading my VF160EX. The current Version is 1.04. I've been reading, if I'm correct, that the first version needs to be done with a zip drive. I've got an Iomega, will that work?

I've also got a VF160 that someone gave me, that when powered up, just gives me a blank amber screen. I'd like to fix it, but I may end up parting it out. Any idea's as to what the blank screen might indicate?

Iomega Zip Drive will work to upgrade your software.. As for the blank screen, HD is dead.. Replace the HD and then update the software and you should be good to go.
 
Thank you for your response, I have one more question. Is there a tutorial somewhere which explains step by step of how you would go about upgrading the software?

Yes.. I have the .pddf upgrading the software.. I have the most recent software update for the VF160ex (version 1.05) it also comes with update .pdf instructions.. please send me your email address and I will email it to you asap..
