My friend has a kind of cheap keyboard by "Kawai" that has MIDI ins/outs on it. we wanted to know if its possible to use a module for more sounds with it?? i'm new to MIDI stuff so any advice is much appreciated!

It is more than possible. It is what a module is designed to do:D

After all, what good would a module be if you couldn't plug something into it to make the sounds come out?;)

Thats kinda obvious. :) The question is rather if the Kawai can use a module. And I haven't seen a Kawai with MIDI outs that can't, so yes, most likely. :)

that should 100%, definitely, positively be possible

Recently bought a Roland 3080 sound module. Playing a $100 61 key casio keyboard through it via midi. The casio sounds go away... and you are left with an incredible sounding keyboard. I think a good sound module is a must for any serious studio.
