Can I use a closet?

I have a big mixing project coming up in a couple of weeks. I am by no means a professional. My house is full of big open rooms with hard walls and tile floors. I've been thinking about throwing all my gear into a small walk-in closet(about 4 1/2' by 5') and mixing in there. Would this work, and what should I do to prep the closet? Or am I crazy and should I try to mix in one of my rooms that sound a lot like I'm listening to music in a cave? A little help please.

Closets work Ok as ad-hoc recording rooms, but as an ad-hoc mixing room they are small and poorly shaped and hard to place the speakers so that you get a good stereo image.

Instead to create an ad-hoc mixing room put your desk and speakers against one wall and place as much absorbancy as you can on the back wall and back half of the side walls. Obviously this is not as good as a well designed mixing room.
