can I tune sampled drums?

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question, but what I want to do is layer my drums. I don't like when the frequencies, harmonics, timbre or whatever start clashing as if I was playing two conflicting notes. I'm basically using deep 808 kicks with short delay but fast punchy attacks and layering them with 808 kicks with long delay and less punchy attacks.

Is there a way for me to figure out the frequency and key that each kick is in so I can tune them to play well together?

I know that soundforge's spectrum analyzer works well on long notes but is there a way for me to get this information on such short sounds?

my objective is to layer the two sounds described above to create a deep 808 with a punchy attack and long decay.
 
Maybe a Pitchshifter? Obviously dont want to go overboard with it tho.
 
Use a tuner plugin to analyze the pitch of the hit.. then use a pitch shifter / correction plugin.. take the shortest route to the note possible, so as to not radically alter the octave of the hit.
 
Depends on the sampler you're using. Anything good like Gigastudio will let you do all sorts of sample manipulation.
 
it doesn't depend.. regardless of what sampler you use, you can tune it later in the signal chain with a new plugin. although, several samplers do allow local manipulation of pitch, envelopes etc..
 
Thanks guys! I'm sorry for typing the word delay, I meant decay. What are some recommended tuner plugins and what are some recommended pitch shifter plugins?
 
The way I do this, and specifically with 808 kicks is load them up in a sampler, play an octave or two above, as it is easier to hear the actual pitch that way, and tune them by ear. Done.
 
I'm not sure what the "best" are, as I haven't had the need for something like this, but for pitch shifting you might try RBC Voice Tweaker.. Antares Auto-tune may also be helpful in determining the current pitch of the sound.
