I'm looking for an affordable interface so I can record drums. 7 or 8 mics. Would a 1010LT work if I used RCA to XLR or RCA to Female TRS cables to connect mics to the 8 anolog inputs of the 1010LT? I could use the to MIC inputs for condenser overhead mic's correct?

for the 6 line inputs you'll need preamps.....

No...You would need a Microphone Preamp for every mic you want to use ,You can not connect a Mic to RCA with an adapter and get a useable signal because a Mic signal is a Exteremly low level signal and needs to be amplified before it is a useable signal.....
Also you can not use the Mic inputs on the Delta for Condenser mics because Condenser mics need Phantom power and the delta doesn"t provide that....

I use a delta 1010LT and a delta 44 and I use a bunch of Rack mount Mic pre"s to plug my mics into and plug the outputs of the Mic pre"s into the delta"s....

If you want to go on the cheap you can probably by a 8 ch rackmount mic preamp for about $100 ,The quality won"t be great but it will get you going ....Something like this maybe..
