Can I mod the effects loop in my Marshall?

I have a Marshall TSL601 combo which I quite like, except for a couple of little quibbles. Firstly, there's a tiny delay in switching channels, but at the moment I'm more concerned with the effects loop. The reviews of this amp I read before I bought it often said that the loop was on the weak side, and no matter how you fiddle with it you won't get a whole lot of the effect in the sound. The reviews were right. I like to have a flanger or phaser in my effects loop, but the sound that comes out is only lightly flanged. I would like to modify this amp, if possible, to correct this problem and let me blend in my effects thickly if I choose. Does anybody know how one might go about this?

sure........

Yeah, you probally can, the question is do you realy want to? The effects circuits contains solid state components. It might "taint" your all-tube sound. I don't have a schematic for the DSL50, but I do have a schamtic for the DSL401 (Which I own.) Actually, I guess I do have the DSL50 schematic, but it is kinda wierd as all the knobs are connected to little connectors and no value are given that I can find...

The DSL401 uses a 10K FX MIX knob, increasing this value to 25K may give you more volume... but I can't be sure. Woah, I guess if the knob is just connected to the board using a connector instead of soldering it on, that would acutally be easier to try!!!

you could just pull the connector out and then use a similar connector and use different values of resistors, or pots and see if that actually makes a difference...... If I had one I'd try it for sure!!

Thanks gus. That sounds simple enough to try. I'm not worried about 'tainting' my all-tube sound because I don't have effects running all the time while I play, just every once in a while. I used to be a lot more effects-happy, but now I spend more time playing with just a basic guitar-->good amp signal chain.

so..........

let me know how the experiment turns out.........
