Can I make a PRO mix with A Behringer Board?

i know someone that make PRO mix's with a MX9000...
he runs a lot of nice gear and mixes with the mx9000... he doesn't use the pres, he just uses the mixer b/c its routing and headroom
 
If you are a PRO (ie, your career/job is getting paid to record) and you use a Behringer board, you are, in fact, making a PRO mix with a Behringer board.

Note that this says nothing about how it will sound, or the quality of the PRO's engineering skills! :p
 
You can make a pro mix on any mixer as long as you used good outboard pre's (where more damage is done) and your not doing any real heavy metal because of 2 bus summing poblems common to alot of lower end mixers, even some pro mixers I might add. If your getting 28bd output of the 2 buss your golden. I know of a Mastering Engineer who does major label work who uses a MX9000 as his router console.

Well, I don't know about the new stuff, but I have an MX8000 from 1997 (lawsuit one). This is one great mixer. I have used it now for 6 years and it is still working perfectly. M y brother has the Mackie PRO. We trade mixes all the time. There has never been a conversation about the sound of any tracks or mixes. These are identicle sounding boards. I love the thing and will still keep it if I get a bigger board. I also have a 1951T 4 band EQ that sounds really great. Granted the first one I got was bad, the replacement unit is a great sounding unit that adds that "punch" to drums I could never get out of any of my compressors.
 
I mixed on them live... Worst case I had was were to identical mics were placed on the same amp, and I got 2 complete different sounds. One of the pre's was probably smoked. There were more channels that had this problem. And that's a bitch to mix on... As long as they are fully functional, they are probably workable. Haven't seen that happen too much on the road though.

You are assuming that the two mics were identicle and that the placement was the same. Wrong way to diagnose the problem or formulate an opinion.

I recently bought a MX2442a. Im pretty much a newbie in the grand scheme of recording. I hooked and up and did some tracking w/ drums and was really dissapointed. I returened it and bought a Mackie 1642vlz pro. WOW what a difference. The Mackie is easier to use and sounds a ton better.

Maybe its just that I dont know any better. But the mackie sounded better w/ no tweaking and eqs at 12. The behringer took alot of work and didnt get near the same results.

I guess in the end its up to you.

i am owner of behringer truth monitors.

one day when i upgrade i may laugh at my pathetic first choice, but for the time being i am satisfied and oblivious.
 
Yes, you can... Just turn the power on and start to record.
My best recordings were done with a 4 track, 9v battery powered, 50dollars Karma Mixer. :)
