This is my issue, I thought it fit here best because it has to do with digital recording but it could belong somewhere else. Sorry in advance if I posted in the wrong place.
So I recently bought a Tascam US-1641 interface along with the CAD premium 7 piece drum mic set (I know they're not the best but for my purposes and money they're fine). Anyway I got them about a week ago and after hooking everything up, one of my overheads will record but will not show a waveform in any program (I've tried Cubase LE 5 which came with the interface as well as Logic and Garage Band). I can hear the audio from it though. I just doesn't seem to register in the computer. I've tried swapping cables, swapping inputs, you name it. Nothing works. All the other mics display fine. The only thing that sometimes works is turning the gain on the input all the way up, which then causes the mic to pick up way too much.
The mic itself is a cardoid condenser mic which is phantom powered by the Tascam. I have an identical mic for the other side of the kit which displays and records fine.
Any idea what could be causing this and solutions?
